The Christie Affair

Whether you love Agatha Christie or have never heard of her before, you are going to love this book. The premise of this historical fiction novel centers around the true events of Agatha Christie’s eleven-day disappearance in 1926. Throughout the novel, we travel from the countries of England and Ireland, before and after “The Great War”.  The narrator, Nan O’Dea, is a creation from the author’s imagination and is based on the real-life mistress of Archie Christie.  One of my favorite parts of the book is when Nan speaks directly to the reader and says, “perhaps you’re finding it difficult to feel kindly toward a home-wrecker such as me. But I don’t require your affection. I only ask you to see me on a wintery day in Ireland…I was nineteen years old” (p. 28). She is speaking to how the reader might be feeling, given what she is doing with Agatha’s husband. As a bonus, you are getting two mysteries in one.
