The Phoebe Buffet Reel from Instagram


I love books and I love the TV show, Friends! On Instagram, they had a Phoebe Buffet Reel where you choose books whose titles start with each letter of Phoebe's name. Here are the books I chose for this challenge:

This list of books is a cumulation of my TBR, books I have just finished, and "oldies, but goodies". I am currently reading, Honor, which is turning out to be a good book so far. It follows Smita who is a journalist covering a story in India where a woman was burned for marrying a Muslim man. 

I just finished The Paper Palace and Everything Inside. Book reviews on these are forthcoming, but they were both quick reads and powerful for different reasons.

One Beautiful Dream was given to me as a gift several years ago when I was going through a very difficult time, juggling motherhood, a full-time job, and graduate school while my husband was four hours away in a doctoral program. This book helped me feel normal and really stuck with me, so I would highly recommend it! 

Echoes is a novel I have not read in years, but in my opinion, you can always go back to a Maeve Binchy book. In case you have never heard of her, she is an Irish author who writes about her home country and creates beautiful stories about family and friendship. 

Baby Proof is on my TBR, but I have read Emily Giffin before, and I'm excited to get to this soon!

BOOK REVIEW: The Anarchist's Wife by Margo Laurie

This story is told from Rosa’s perspective, who is the wife of one of the accused men. At her son’s request, she writes letters for her young daughter so that she may someday understand the events that led to her father’s arrest & execution. The author does a great job of showing the reader what it must have been like for Rosa. The fear, uncertainty & heartbreak of what happened to her husband; not knowing what was true & what wasn’t. There is also a section at the end of the book where the author describes her research, which parts of the story were from her own imagination & which were real.
